Sand Castle wines are created exclusively using the best European vinifera grape varieties and are all estate grown and bottled. Our seedlings were cloned from European stock, carefully selected from the Mosel Valley of Germany and the Burgundy and Bordeaux districts of France.
Grape vines planted in rocky soils combine with the moderating temperatures of the Delaware River to produce fruit ideal for wine making. Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Johannisberg Riesling, and Pinot Noir have been specially selected and grafted for the vineyards cool climate and rocky soils.
An outstanding grape variety used for the finest great wines in the world, Cabernet is a prominent grape in the regions of Bordeaux, California, Chile, and Australia. We leave the Cabernet grapes on the vines until one or two late autumn frosts burn the harshness out of the grapes, which produces a very soft wine at fairly young age.
This excellent white grape is grown notably in Burgundy. It yields a rich well-balanced wine with a distinctive aroma and a superb, lingering aftertaste. Sand Castle Winery ages Chardonnay in both stainless steel and French oak.

One of the greatest of fine wine grapes, Pinot Noir produces fantastic red wines .When planted on the right slope and during proper environmental conditions, it will produce the most stable and velvety wine in the world. The rocky soil of the southeast slope at Sand Castle Winery combines with late summer drought conditions to maximize the flavor of this grape.
